Elinora Daskal takes you on a timeless musical journey, from the era of the harp and shofar, through orchestras, granny’s phonographs, and all the way to the playlist now in every child’s pocket.

In this captivating session for parents and children, we’ll discover together how music accompanied the Jewish people in exile and return to their homeland, how it preserved their identity, connected communities, and became an inspiration in pop and rock culture. Piyyutim (liturgical poems) of Moroccan and Iraqi Jews, as well as Ofra Haza’s voice that brought Yemeni piyyut directly to the world’s biggest stages, the cheerful Klezmer music of Eastern Europe, anthems of Bob Dylan and the soulful sounds of Amy Winehouse.

At the end of the activity, each family will receive a card set with fascinating questions to continue the musical experience and connection at home.
