Artist Talk: Sergey Maximishin (in Russian)

You are invited to an artist talk with internationally renowned photographer Sergey Maximishin, telling about his work and answering questions.

Sergey Maximishin was born in Kodyma, Odessa Oblast, in 1964. He completed his studies in Kerch, Crimea, served in the Soviet Army as a photographer, then graduated from the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute, specializing in “Experimental Nuclear Physics.” He worked in the scientific and technological testing laboratory of the State Hermitage Museum. From 1999, he was a photojournalist for the newspaper “Izvestia,” and since 2003, he has been a freelance photographer. He is a two-time winner of the “World Press Photo” competition. He has presented over thirty solo exhibitions in France, Italy, the United States, Spain, the Netherlands, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, and Israel. He is the author of the books “The Last Empire,” “100 Photographs,” and “Map of Memory.” Until 2022 he lived in St. Petersburg, Russia, and since March 2022, he is residing in Jerusalem, Israel.

After the lecture, there will be guided tours in Russian of the museum’s exhibition, including the new exhibition, “20&20 A Lens of Her Own”.
