Musicals Through Jewish Eyes (in Hebrew)

Monday, 17.11.25 at 19:30

Stav Meishar-Krimolovsky

Broadway musicals have always told big stories – about love, loss, identity, and belonging. In a fascinating and entertaining lecture, historian Stav Meishar-Krimolovsky explains how some of Broadway’s most acclaimed musicals reflect Jewish themes – whether explicitly or by diving deep between the lines.

From classics like “West Side Story” and “Fiddler on the Roof” to contemporary hits like “Wicked” and “The Band’s Visit,” we will explore how these works offer elements of ethnic tension, resilience, and moral complexity. We will watch clips from various productions of these shows and even enjoy a live performance of songs from these musicals, performed by Stav.

Stav masterfully combines fascinating narratives, cultural insights, and a live performance of selected songs, for form an engaging meeting that offers a fresh perspective on the shows you know and love, while discovering new layers of meaning through a distinct Jewish lens. It is a celebration of theater and Jewish identity!

*Prior to the lecture, a guided tour of the museum will be held in Hebrew 18:00.
