The premiere of the film The Three Musketeers took place in December 1979. In December 2025, Veniamin Smekhov will launch a book dedicated to this legendary masterpiece.
The book explores not only the making of the film upon which entire generations of Russian speakers grew up, but also the forty-six years separating that distant premiere from the present day. In the epilogue, Smekhov recounts his journey in the footsteps of the historical figure of Athos.
The launch event will feature the artist Alexander Zibin, whose watercolors – inspired by The Three Musketeers—successfully convey the warm nostalgia viewers feel for the beloved movie.
An exhibition of Zibin’s work will open during the launch, showcasing approximately twenty watercolors used as illustrations for the book, as well as additional pieces created under its inspiration that were not included in the final publication.
