Čiurlionis – His 150 Anniversary – Lecture in Russian

Friday, 30.5.25 at 10:00

A lecture by Yelena Galinskaya:

“Come on, brother, let’s break free. Come on, brother, let’s soar!”

Mikalojus Čiurlionis is perhaps the most brilliant and unique artist and composer of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His name is known worldwide, yet he remains a creator of beauty that has not been fully understood. His art is a romantic flight of imagination into the unknown expanses of the cosmos, towards the stars, and his unique paintings, with their surprising and unearthly colors and forms, in which music and painting are fused, captivate and move the viewer, whispering wonderful thoughts.

Čiurlionis paid a heavy price for breaking into another world. After a torturous search, he reached the cosmic expanses of other worlds and became a phenomenon on a global scale.

Many of Čiurlionis’ works are connected with his love story with Sofija Kymantaitė, his wife and companion, who during World War II saved Jews and was awarded the title of Righteous Among the Nations.

A guided tour in Russian will follow the lecture.
