Joachim Stutschewsky (1891-1982) was born in Romni, Ukraine to a family of traditional Klezmer musicians. He learned to play the fiddle at a young age and later the cello. Stutschewsky studied in Leipzig with Julius Klengel and embarked on a rich and varied musical career. He was a member of the legendary Vienna String Quartet headed by Rudolf Kolisch. In 1938 he settled in Eretz Israel. This selection features his compositions for cello and piano - all written in the Hassidic style and created between 1924 (in Europe) and 1964 (in Israel).
