“I chose pictures that capture the special charm of Jewish Prague,” explained Jiri Vsetecka, a prominent Czech photographer. “It was an early evening when I was taking a picture of the Calvary on the Charles Bridge, an unrepeatable moment.” One of the oldest pictures in his book is the a face of a Jew, covered in hoarfrost, from the Charles Bridge’s sculpture. He describes it as one of his favorites, “...taken in 1964 when the winter was particularly severe. Steam was evaporating from the Vltava River briefly settling on sculptures.”
