A Visit From Djerba

Last week we were honored to host three teachers from the “Torah VeChinuch” Jewish school in the island of Djerba, Tunisia.

Visits from Tunisia are quite scarce, especially since 2012, when the relationship between Israel and Tunisia deteriorated following the events of the “Arab Spring” in several countries.

Sarit Hadad, Anael Hadad and Batia Ahuh are teachers in “Torah VeChinuch”, the only Jewish school in Djerba, in which a thousand Jews are living in one large Jewish quarter. All three went to this school as children. They came to visit Israel and Beit Hatfutsot due to the efforts of Miriam Kedoshim from Efrat (originally from Djerba).

The guests were hosted by staff members of The Koret International School for Jewish Peoplehood at Beit Hatfutsot. They visited the exhibitions and were presented with a variety of educational programs held in Beit Hatfutsot.
